Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by just one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team ran a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a slight brush of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn before the last turn on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619secs behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
